Sgt. William H. Carney Jr. fought in the Civil War at the Battle of Fort Wagner, SC on July 18, 1863. This year marks the 150th anniversary of this significant battle in US History. He later was the First African American recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery. I will be posting information about Sgt. Carney so that all Americans will learn about his contribution in our history.
